Tyler Jones (b. 1993) is an Alabama-based composer and conductor. His music has been performed and recorded by notable performers in famous venues, and it ranges from large ensemble works to solo violin pieces. He studied (BM and MM) at the University of Alabama, and he is a member of ASCAP and the Millennium Composers Initiative.

Jones wrote we’ll find our way. in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic was forcing music programs around the world to rethink everything about what they did. He expounds on its significance and inspiration in the program notes:

we’ll find our way. was composed as a contribution to the growing repertoire of “flexible” music that aims to provide musicians, teachers, and students with fulfilling music experiences during the uncertain time of the COVID-19 pandemic. This work is scored for six parts with optional percussion and is thus playable by as few as six players on standard wind band/orchestral instruments, or by as many as a full orchestra or wind band.  This work serves as a message of hope for all musicians, music teachers, and students during this challenging time, and is dedicated to them.

The dedication reads “to all the music teachers and students out there – thank you.”

Here is we’ll find our way. in a reading with the Backyard Flex Band of Upstate New York, with 3 clarinets, a trumpet, a horn, 2 trombones, and keyboard:

Here is Jones’s MIDI rendering, with the score:

Jones has several more MIDI renderings of the piece with different instrumental combos on his website. The piece also has a listing at the Wind Repertory Project, and it receives a full analysis on the Literature for Pandemic (and Beyond) website.
