Ilari Hylkilä (b. 1978) is a Finnish composer who describes himself as a “melody lover.” He has written extensively for wind band, orchestra, voices, and chamber groups. He has also written music for the Aesthetic Gymnastics group OVO. His music has won several awards, and has been performed throughout Finland and beyond. Originally from Toholampi, he now resides in Espoo. A trombone player, he trained at the University of Jyväskylä. See more about him at his website and his page on MusicFinland.

Hylkilä wrote Waltz for wind band in 2014 and created an orchestra version in 2016. He provides the following brief program note:

I tried to compose [a] beautiful waltz with love and this is what I achieved to create. I hope you like it. Originally I wrote Waltz for concert band in 2014. In 2016 I decided to arrange this piece of music for symphony orchestra.
